Hello, Gamecocks fans. Welcome to the calm before the storm. South Carolina is finished with SEC play, but it's not finished with the season. There's a little game coming up next week. I hear it's a bit of a rivalry in these parts. Never too early to start talking USC-Clemson, even with the Gamecocks hosting Coastal Carolina this week. Or, we can chat up some SEC football, including the East race. Your call.
A couple guys were banged up, but nothing serious. Mike Davis is not 100 percent, even if he says he has no injury. Spurrier said Davis has bruised ribs and a bruised shoulder. It's bad enough Connor Shaw was aware of Davis' situation, but not bad enough to keep Davis out of the game.
Jadeveon Clowney is also still dealing with the same right foot issue that will require surgery at the end of the season. So nothing new.
I expect South Carolina will be a slight favorite over Clemson, primarily because of the home crowd. Williams-Brice Stadium has been full all year. Should be beneficial in two weeks.
Good questions, Frank. I'm pretty confident Missouri is closing its season 1-1. I don't know if that loss comes at Ole Miss or to TAMU, but I think it's too tough of a gantlet for that team to get through unscathed. As for the Iron Bowl, I'm stilling going with Alabama. Bama doesn't fare too well against spread teams, so Auburn is going to score its share of points. I don't see the Tigers defense stopping the Tide. Alabama will score enough to win.
I should add, I've been atrocious with predictions all year. So expect Missouri to go 2-0, and Auburn to win by three scores.
That's true. Both matchups would be tough for South Carolina. I'm still saying Alabama. The Tide's physicality would be a difficult challenge. Auburn doesn't have that identity. I think that would be USC's biggest disadvantage against either team.
Of course, that's looking ahead. First, there is Coastal Carolina, and then Clemson. Enjoy the game this week, Gamecocks fans. I'll see you again this time next week.
