Hello, Gamecocks fans. Beat writer Ryan Wood here. What a crazy, stunning night it was Saturday in Missouri. Send any questions or comments about South Carolina's win over Missouri my way.
At that point, honestly, my mind was on getting everything done before deadline. Double overtimes are a beat writer's nightmare. But I remember the entire building falling quiet, except for the small smattering of cheers from USC fans. I was also struck at the scene being the polar opposite of the previous week, when Tennessee kicked the game-winning field goal and players flooded the field in excitement. This time, Missouri missed the game-winning field goal and USC players flooded the field in utter joy. You know, what goes around, comes around.
I'm thrilled beyond description South Carolina isn't traveling anymore. Even for a beat writer, going to Orlando, Fayetteville, Knoxville and Missouri in five weeks is a grind. I can't imagine how much more intense it is for players. So, yes, I think the Gamecocks are thrilled to be playing their final four regular-season games in Williams-Brice Stadium. I'm glad they are too.
All right. That's it for today. Jared, thanks for your questions. Everybody else, the bye week falls after Mississippi State, not before. Take care, and have a Happy Halloween.
