Alright guys, top of the hour, and I'm here. Hit me with your fire and brimstone.
Let's start out with some Twitter inquiries, since they're a chirpier bunch. (A little bird humor.)
@Thomas_Hughes10 @Aaron_Brenner who will replace Breeland for the first half of the MD game? /// Martin Jenkins. He's tougher than me & you.
@chucktown1980 @Aaron_Brenner Other then the obvious, what the heck happened, I got nothing. /// Third-down D, turnovers, QB play failed.
@JoshuaGenoble @Aaron_Brenner in your thoughts do you think we see Jordan Legget going forward. Stanton had a terrible game. /// Or Cooper.
@MikeJonesGolf @Aaron_Brenner what would now make this season a successful one? /// 10-2 (with USC loss) is still very good. 11-1 is great.
@spires296 @Aaron_Brenner Do you think its out of the realm of possibility to start Zac Brooks instead of hot rod? /// At some point, no.
@max_kinser @Aaron_Brenner in your opinion, how good is Clemson actually /// Right about where the rankings have the Tigers. Ninth in NCAA.
Not too chide, 18 viewers, but when one enters a bar, one normally orders a drink. What's on your mind?
@Thomas_Hughes10 @Aaron_Brenner injuries right now? Boulware still out? /// Yes he is. Garry Peters, too. Overall, team's in good shape.
Hmmm ... I don't wanna say every game's going to be of the 51-14 variety, because that's a stretch. But it sure does look like FSU's grabbed the upper hand not just on Clemson, but the whole ACC for the next few years.
I think the loss of DeAndre Hopkins, Andre Ellington, Brandon Ford, Jaron Brown and Dalton Freeman is hurting the Tigers more than we realized it would. Other than the quarterback, and a talented receiver who slumped in 2012, there weren't many proven parts returning.
1) It is a team game. Can't expect a guy to keep running for his life, and Tajh can't catch his own passes. But those body language issues and general jumpiness you list are significant issues.
2) Sure doesn't help. You fear that NFL scouts pay attention to his biggest games of the year and think, this guy looks like a professional backup. Good news is, Tajh has at least two more games (South Carolina, bowl game) to change the narrative.
I want to be clear: nobody should be jumping off bridges. This is still the No. 9 team in the country. A couple more wins and all will be well again. But obviously, it has to hurt for the team and its fans right now.
@Thomas_Hughes10 @Aaron_Brenner Maryland's strengths and weaknesses? /// Defense is top-25 unit, will have to check how. Diggs injury hurts.
Watkins was plenty active in the first half the other night; but from a broader standpoint, I guess the gameplan gets turned on its head when you fumble on the first snap, and then two drives later allow a fumble-6, and boom, you're down 17-0. Very difficult to adjust.
Alright Boyd, thanks for checking in. Remember y'all, gametime is 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Maryland. I'll be there, crabcakes in hand. Have a pleasant week.
