Hey folks, ready for the live chat.
I think Mike Davis needs to get the ball more. He has only 5 carries. And, yes, he's gotten only 17 yards on them, but two of those carries gained -2 yards. If Davis gets the ball 15 times in the second half, USC wins.
Defensively, I think the Gamecocks did a lot of good things in the first half. Forced two turnovers. Would've given up only 7 points if not for a horrendous penalty called on Brison Williams. The offense has it get its act together. Defense has been plenty good enough to win.
It will be interesting to see how Dylan Thompson handles this second half. He's never really faced adversity in his career, especially to this extreme. Going back to getting Davis more touches, it'll help take the pressure of Thompson.
The good news for USC fans: UCF hasn't put the game away. Knights wasted a lot of opportunities in the first half. A 10-point halftime deficit isn't exactly daunting, even on the road. Whether or not USC takes advantage, we'll find out soon. I'm signing off now, getting ready for second half. Follow me on Twitter @rwood_SC for live updates.
